The projects for 2021 Gwinnett Great Days of Service have been released. We invite you to browse through each listing below and explore the many opportunities to help. Once projects are adopted by four organizations they will be shown as “closed” for adoption. As we draw closer to the event, it is possible we may open some projects back up based upon the real-time needs in our community. Thank you for helping us continue our Great Days of Service legacy.

Spectrum Autism Support Group 1
Spectrum Autism Support Group (Georgia Race for Autism, Fall Festival and Resource fair) provides support, education and resources to those impacted by autism in our community. Volunteers are needed on Friday, October 4th from 9am to 2pm to help set up for the Georgia Race and fall festival.

Spectrum Autism Support Group (Georgia Race for Autism, Fall Festival and Resource Fair) provides support, education and resources to those impacted by autism in our community. Volunteers are needed to man the race course, hand out water, help with registration, give out t-shirts, take photos, assist with timing, food, drink and much more!

Easterseals of North Georgia
Easterseals, North GA provides early education, early intervention and family support services for children with disabilities and other special needs. The 9th annual Trick-or-Treat Trot Family Fall Festival is being held on October 19, 2019 at Thrasher Park in Norcross. This is a fun family event and an opportunity to raise funds that go to therapy for children supported by ESNG.
Volunteer roles include set up, check in, monitoring the 5K run/walk course and water stations, assist with games and activities, costume characters, photographers, cheer squads and breakdown. Lots of opportunities here to support children with disabilities and their families and have fun all at the same time!

Ivy Creek Elementary School
Gwinnett County Public Schools has a vision to become a system of world-class schools, and the mission is to pursue excellence for each student. Ivy Creek Elementary school is moving towards this goal by building a “buddy bench” on the school playground. Buddy Benches provide a space for students to go when they need a friend to play with or to talk to. Want to help students grow their connections with their peers? This project is for you!
Gwinnett County Public Library – Buford
Gwinnett County Public Library promotes lifelong learning and growth to meet the changing needs of its board and staff, and community by providing access to library materials and programs. The knitters group at the Buford-Sugar Hill library will provide dog and cat snuggle blankets to the Snuggles Project of the Gwinnett County Animal Welfare and Enforcement.
Success to Succeed Foundation Inc.
Success To Succeed Foundation Inc. is dedicated to meeting the needs of homeless veterans and their family. Big work takes big heart! Success To Succeed is looking for volunteers with a strong heart to help Military Veterans and their families. Volunteers will help to remove, sort, and organize a storage unit with items that can be given to veterans as support.
Home of Hope at Gwinnett Children’s Shelter
Located in Buford, Home of Hope provides a home for homeless children and their mothers and customized “life plans” that are designed around the needs of the child. Volunteers are needed to enhance the grounds and make them ready for winter by trimming, pruning, planting flowers and spreading pine straw. Pull on your work gloves and come and join in!
Honoring Veterans in Dacula
The Gwinnett County Veterans Resource Center seeks to meet the needs of its veterans and their military families by providing information, referrals and resources in a welcoming environment that honors their service and sacrifice to our country. Join this project to help a disabled veteran clean up the yard, painting inside the house, installing a carpet and much more. Make a real difference and come and serve those who have served us!
Gwinnett County Public Library – Hamilton Mill
Gwinnett County Public Library promotes lifelong learning and growth to meet the changing needs of its board, staff, and community by providing access to materials and programs. The sewing club at Hamilton Mill Library will be making “fidget Mats” (materials that contain zippers ties, buttons to open and close and more) and deliver them to the clients of the Hi-Hope Service Center for developmentally disabled adults.
Northside Gwinnett Joan Glancy
Northside Gwinnett Joan Glancy mission is to help patients towards the highest possible level of function and prepare them for the next step in their rehabilitation process. Volunteers are needed to help clean up and replant the patients raised beds garden where they meet their families and enjoy the peace and beauty of nature. Come and help, learn more about this amazing service and make the garden a true oasis once again!
Peachtree Christian Health
Peachtree Christian Health works with the mission to provide safe, engaging, and reliable adult services. Volunteer with Peachtree Christian Health will create a large garden space for participants to enjoy daily. Participants at Peachtree Christian Health delight in using horticulture as a form of therapy. Give a helping hand by helping to create a space for participants to learn and grow.
Mosaic Georgia works to enhance safety, health, and justice for people of all ages impacted by sexual violence. This volunteer project contains 3 components:
1. Collecting items and creating comfort bags
2. Hang wall mounted Tv’s
3. Install a large Lego will within the playroom.
Friends & Neighbors
The Friends and Neighbors of Curt Thompson will hold a children’s book drive at the Duluth branch of the Gwinnett County Public Library. Volunteers are needed to create posters and deliver flyers. Volunteers are encouraged to promote the collection on social media, to help staff the collection table and to pick up donated items.
Hudgens Center for Art and Learning
The Hudgens Center for Art and Learning is committed to changing lives through art by bringing art lovers, art leaders, and art learners together to experience high quality programs and exhibitions. This year the Hudgens Center is hosting a project to support Tutu Capers, a grass roots organization that makes super hero capes and tutus to be distributed to children in hospitals. Volunteers are needed to make tutus for children in need. Come create for a great cause!
Trip Elementary School
Gwinnett County Public Schools wishes to meet the needs of all its students and families. Trip Elementary School needs volunteers to help transform their outdoor classroom and garden. Volunteers will help make the garden at Trip Elementary usable to teachers and students.
Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministry
The Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministry works to take care of the basic needs of all clients who walk through their doors. This volunteer project will help with sorting, cleaning, organizing, labeling donations for veterans (home goods, personal care items and more!)
Gwinnett County Public Schools has a vision to become a system of world-class schools and a mission to pursue excellence for each student. Baggett Elementary is living out this mission by helping students to develop the heart to serve their community. Join Baggett Elementary as they partner with Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) to build beds for families in need. With this project Baggett Elementary hopes to be able to provide many children with a place to have a good nights rest.
Discovery High School
Gwinnett County Public Schools has a vision to become a system of world-class schools and a mission to pursue excellence for each student. Discovery High School is hosting a Gwinnett Great Days of Service project to create an outdoor learning space for students. Volunteers are needed to help clean up the designated area: remove old tire seats, build benches and tables, as well as prepare garden space for winter planting. Join this project to help make this space beautiful for all students to enjoy!
Lawrenceville Elementary School
Gwinnett County Public Schools has a vision to become a system of world-class schools and a mission to pursue excellence for each student. Lawrenceville Elementary School is hosting a Gwinnett Great Days of Service project and volunteers are needed to build and decorate buddy benches that will encourage students to connect with each other, paint vocabulary rocks, and help with gardening beautification.
Cedar Hill Elementary School
Gwinnett County Public Schools has a vision to become a system of world-class schools and a mission to pursue excellence for each student. Cedar Hill Elementary School is working to enhance this vision and mission with a Gwinnett Great Days of Service Project. Join Cedar Hill as they foster creativity among students by building a lifesize chess board for the school playground.
Gwinnett County Public Schools has a vision to become a system of world-class schools and a mission to pursue excellence for each student. Join Mckendree as they use stencils to create and paint inspirational quotes and pictures all around the school campus and buildings. The goal of this project is to remind students of their worth, responsibility and keep them motivated throughout the day. If you have a heart to plant positive messages and hope into young people, this project is for you!
Sweetwater Middle School
Gwinnett County Public Schools has a vision to become a system of world-class schools and a mission to pursue excellence for each student. With this project volunteers will trim hedges that have overgrown the school, redo school flower beds, paint picnic tables and remove any trash items around the schools. If you are interested in beautification and have the heart to foster positive learning environments for students this project is for you.
Phoenix High School
Gwinnett County Public Schools has a vision to become a system of world-class schools and a mission to pursue excellence for each student. Join Phoenix High School and they pursue this same mission through a beautification project. Help to remove old landscaping and replace them with new low maintenance landscaping. Join this project to help Phoenix High School students develop great pride in the appearance of their school.
Gwinnett County Public Schools has a vision to become a system of world-class schools and a mission to pursue excellence for each student. Join Jackson Elementary as they transform their school to create a place for students to be encouraged to learn. With this project volunteers will help to transform two overgrown flower beds into a sodded area. If you love beauty and transformation this project is for you!
Why Not Ministries
Why Not Ministries provides home and shelter for homeless and nearly homeless single parents. Why Not Ministries is hosting a garage sale on Saturday October 26th and needs volunteers to set up, monitor and clean up after the sale.
The Salvation Army
The Salvation Army provides emergency food, shelter, rapid rehousing and other emergency services to those in need. Immerse yourself into the heart of the work of the Salvation Army. Come out to help provide a dignified, clean environment for meals being served to those struggling with homelessness and low income. Volunteers will prepare walls and paint the community dining room, kitchen and hallway.
Philadelphia Winn Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution have dedicated themselves to historical preservation, promotion of education, and encouragement of patriotic endeavor. The Philadelphia Winn Chapter is working in line with this mission by hosting a service project to put wreaths on the graves of Veterans in a Gwinnett Cemetery over the Holidays. This project will help with raising awareness and donations for wreaths for Veterans graves in Lawrenceville and promoting patriotism in our community.
Partnership Against Domestic Violence
Partnership Against Domestic Violence is the largest nonprofit domestic violence organization in Georgia. They provide professional compassionate, and empowering support to women and their children surviving domestic violence. Join them in this shelter beautification project: including cleaning of common areas, including kitchen, dining room, indoor playroom, computer lab, hallways and staircases.
Nothing But the Truth
The mission of Nothing But the Truth is to meet others where they are and offer hope for the Spirit, Mind, and Body. Join Nothing But the Truth as they collect food items such to the Lawrenceville location to stock shelves, assemble food bags, and deliver food bags to schools.
Mending the Gap
Mending the Gap works hard to provide for the basic needs of low income seniors and creating opportunities for seniors and youth to connect, engage and support each other. Join this project to assist in cleaning and re-organizing the storage room and help sort and pack 300 grocery bags of food and household supplies to be distributed to seniors.
JM Tull Family YMCA
The J.M. Tull Gwinnett Family YMCA (ymcaatlanta.org) offers health and wellness programs, youth sports, out of school care and aquatics. The Gwinnett Great Days of Service project focuses on the clean up of the outdoor pool, including pressure washing the deck, breeze way, tables, chairs and lifeguard stands. It also includes moving the tables and chairs to storage for the winter. This is a great way to get your exercise on.
Impact46 and C.I.P.S.
Impact46 & C.I.P.S. works to coordinate and build partnerships within the 6 sectors of Lawrenceville to build a thriving community that meets the needs of all residents and citizens. This project will partner with Citizens for the Improvement of Paper Mill and Surrounding Areas (C.I.P.S). Volunteers will participate in fixing front entrance landscaping for Paper Mill neighborhoods. If you find satisfaction in transforming and beautifying a local Lawrenceville area, this project is for you!
Hi Hope Service Center
HI-Hope Service Center provides quality services that empower adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to define and live a meaningful life. Help HI-Hope to break ground on an interactive garden at the service center. Volunteers will clean up the area, remove a fence, construct raised garden beds, lay mulch and plant flowers.
Gwinnett Extended Care Center
Gwinnett Extended Care Center is a rehabilitation center for hospital patients who are well enough to leave the hospital but not yet able to return home. If have the heart to serve and bring a smile to others this project is for you. Volunteers will participate in beautifying the outside of the Extended Care Center by tending to the plants, trimming, turning soil and much more! You will leave this project knowing that residents will have a beautiful view and got your hands dirty for a good cause.
Gwinnett Division of Family and Children Services
To support foster and low income families, Gwinnett DFACS maintains an inventory of formal wear given to youth to attend prom and homecoming dances. In order to save money and provide more convenient access to the inventory, this project is to move the current clothing inventory from an off-site location to the building which houses the DFACS offices.
Grizzlies Serve-GGC Office of Student Involvement
Grizzlies Serve, of Georgia Gwinnett College reaches out to Gwinnett County and provides service learning opportunities for its students and local residents. The Community Urban Garden donates the many thousand of pounds of food to the local food bank and needs general garden maintenance, weeding, mulching and more. If you have a green thumb or want to share in a great cause, this project is for you!
Greater Gwinnett Reentry Alliance
Volunteers for this project will create “Welcome Home Kits” to be distributed to participants in the G.R.I.P. (Gwinnett Reentry Intervention Program). If you have the heart to serve others, and want to make sure that no man or woman sees themselves as outcasts in society this volunteer opportunity is for you!
Helping Veterans in Lilburn
The Gwinnett County Veterans Resource Center seeks to meet the needs of its veterans and their military families by providing information, referrals and resources in a welcoming environment that honors their service and sacrifice to our country. Help a senior disabled lady veteran with work around her property. Yard work, painting trim, some minor house repairs, fix a hole in dry wall, pressure wash the outside of the house…help improve her life and ease the challenge of keeping her home safe and secure. You will be glad you came!
Lilburn Community Garden
The goal of the Lilburn Community Garden is to grow community by creating and sustaining a garden that provides food for area residents and food banks as well as cultivating interaction and fun for all. This provides a learning environment for organic, sustainable growing practices. To prepare the garden for winter, volunteers will be weeding and mulching beds, painting a shed and staining the pergola. If you love to play in the garden, this project is for you!
Lilburn Middle School
Gwinnett County Public Schools has a vision is to become a system of world-class schools, and a mission is to pursue excellence for each student. Lilburn Middle School is hosting a beautification project to increase school pride and allow students to learn the importance of sustainability. Volunteers will help plant flowers in front of the school as well as a vegetable garden for students. If you want to encourage our students, enjoy gardening then this project is for you!
Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful
Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful Watershed Clean Up will provide volunteers from all over Gwinnett the opportunity to clean up Jackson Creek, remove litter, plant new plants and share the importance of environmental stewardship of our county. Cleaning up the storm drains and stenciling them is also a part of this clean-up. Afterwards, the volunteers will head back to the Yellow Rover Reclamation Facility for a Trick or Treat Festival where the nest superhero costume/ make-up will win a prize! Food, games and fun will be had by all! Don’t miss this unique volunteer opportunity.
HomeFirst Gwinnett – Clean up!
The Mission of HomeFirst Gwinnett is to end homelessness in Gwinnett County through a systematic and innovative approach. Volunteers will be needed to help with the final preparations for the facility prior to its opening. This will include cleaning the facility, helping clear up the yard, inventory and stock supplies. It all takes place at the new center!
The Nett Church
The Nett Church is re-purposing a former church property in Norcross to meet the needs of the poor, homeless or those at risk of homelessness. The Great Days of Service project is an outdoor beautification project that includes expanding the community garden by building 8 new raised beds, clearing brush and small/medium limbs in the recreation field and painting a gazebo and picnic tables.
Helping Mamas, Inc. partners with over 100 schools, hospitals and community support agencies to provide baby supply items to families in need. This project provides a company, group or organization the opportunity to collect diapers, baby wipes and other hygiene items.
HomeFirst Gwinnett Books
The mission of HomeFirst Gwinnett is to end homelessness in Gwinnett County through a systematic and innovative approach. This new project includes two work opportunities. Volunteers will assist in the inventory and stocking of books at the center’s library and will help build raised bed vegetable gardens for the center. Making an impact on homelessness in our community.
HomeFirst Gwinnet-Set Up
The Mission of HomeFirst Gwinnett is to end homelessness in Gwinnett County through a systematic and innovative approach. Volunteers will be needed to set up the center’s furniture. This will include putting together desks, chairs, beds, and storage units. Have screwdriver will travel! IT savy volunteers needed to help set up computers. It all takes place at the new center!
Shiloh High School
Gwinnett County Public Schools has a vision to become a system of world-class schools, and a mission to pursue excellence for each student. Shiloh High School will host a “Care for Causes” collection and donation drive in support of families impacted by breast cancer, domestic Violence and homelessness. If you have a passion to fight against social issues, come and join with the students and staff and help impact lives.
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc – Sigma Omicron Zeta Chapter
The Sigma Omicron Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc has been building community partnerships within the Gwinnett area performing service projects that include elder care, youth, health and wellness, and others. To commemorate their 100th anniversary, the sorority will ask their membership, network and the community to donate 100 food items to the Southeast Gwinnett Co-op and 100 personal items to the Department of Children’s Family Services.
Friends of Disabled Adults and Children
Friends of Disabled Adults and Children’s mission is to provide durable medical equipment (DME) such as wheelchairs and hospital beds at little or no cost to individuals with disabilities and their families. When FODAC receives excess donations, they box and ship them to other countries to help those in need. Volunteers are needed to help sort items, fix and clean them so they can be of benefit to others. Volunteers will also help organize the warehouse where these items are stored.
Gwinnett County Public Library – Suwanee
Gwinnett County Public Library promotes lifelong learning and growth by providing the community with access to many materials and programs. The Suwanee Library will be offering a unique opportunity, they will be hosting Suwanee Atlanta Humane Society Adoption Day. Volunteers are needed to help with the coordination of the events that day. If you have a love for animals and passion for serving the community, this project is for you!
Located in Suwanee and founded in 1969, Annandale Village is an award-winning organization dedicated solely to providing progressive life assistance to adults with developmental disabilities and acquired brain injuries so they can maximize their abilities and maintain their independence in the least restrictive environment. This project serves Annandale Village’s communication-challenged clients through the cutting, assembling, and laminating of communication books to allow them to more effectively communicate their wants and needs to the staff.
Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation/ Gwinnett Foundation
Gwinnett County Parks are some of the best in the state. They help create community by offering a safe and secure environment to engage in a wide variety of activities and programs for all ages. For this project, volunteers will work at Simpsonwood Park in Peachtree Corners to beautify trails, meadow plantings and cover up some spray paint on the trees. As time allows, volunteers will also remove nandidna shrubs from the comfort station area and replace with beauty berry shrubs. If you love outdoor work, this project is for you.
JC Magill Elementary
Gwinnett County Public Schools wishes to meet the needs of all its students and families. JC Magill is participating in Gwinnett Great Days of Service by hosting a beautification project. Volunteers are needed to help alongside the students in trimming and pruning bushes, clear weeds, prep the winter garden plant vegetables and much more! Join this project to help students learn the value of growing food and caring for their school.
Sycamore Elementary School
Gwinnett County Public Schools wishes to meet the needs of all its students and families. Sycamore elementary school embodies the heart of Gwinnett County Public Schools by hosting a Gwinnett Great Days of Service Project.Volunteers are needed to sand and stain outdoor benches, build, fix and add additional raised beds, weed, and replenish soil and mulch. Join Sycamore as they get their hands dirty to make their school beautiful!
Gwinnett County Public Library – Centerville
Gwinnett County Public Library promotes lifelong learning and growth by providing the community with access to many materials and programs. The Centerville Library will be offering a beautification project to create and inviting and positive first impression to Centerville visitors. Volunteers are needed to help with weeding around garden beds and signs and grounds clean up.
